Every year since 2001, NKO students have outperformed Chicago Public Schools students citywide.

Student Resources

Students have access to an ever-growing list of resources to help advance their learning.  Below you will find a selection of online resources that can be used by students, teachers, parents, and families.

Websites for Learning

NKO subscribes to the following websites designed to help students acquire critical literacy, math, science, and technology skills. Students can use these websites in school or at home. You must have a username and password to access these sites. Ask your teacher if you need help. 

Reading Eggs
Reading Eggs helps primary students learn to read with online games and activities.

Everyday Math Online
Everyday Math Online allows students to play the math games they learn during math lessons.

Talking Fingers
Talking Fingers helps students develop good keyboarding habits while improving alphabetics and vocabulary.

Typing Pal
Typing Pal allows students to develop good keyboarding habits and improve their typing speed and accuracy.

Study Island
Study Island provides access to online lessons, exercises, and games based on Common Core State Standards.

SkillsTutor
SkillsTutor helps students develop fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

BrainPop Jr.
BrainPop Jr. provides educational animations across the curriculum for Grades K-3.

BrainPop

Discovery Education
Discovery Education provides educational videos across the curriculum.

Dreambox
DreamBox provides interactive math lessons that adapt to the needs and abilities of each student.
