Every year, the Posse Foundation identifies and recruits students with extraordinary leadership potential through a dynamic assessment process that gauges students’ intrinsic leadership ability, skill at working on a team, and drive to succeed. Thousands of students across the country participate in this dynamic assessment process each year to compete for the chance to become a Posse Scholar, who receive full tuition scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges. We are so proud of our five UCW seniors who are finalists for this competitive scholarship: Angel Alexander, Terrance Dantzler, Beyonca Owens, I’Aisha Price, and Julien Sims.

Today, UCW senior Beyonca Owens was also named as a Gates Scholarship semifinalist. The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to 300 of these student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Gates Scholarship semifinalists are applicants who are ideal candidates, or those who possess an outstanding high school record, consistently demonstrate strong leadership, and exude exceptional personal success skills, like UCW senior Beyonca Owens. Congratulations, Beyonca, and best of luck in the next round!
