This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for the University of Chicago Charter School (UChicago Charter) website at This privacy notice applies solely to information collected by this website, and is provided here to notify you of the following:

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

UChicago Charter is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. UChicago Charter only collects information that you voluntarily provide to us via email or other direct contact including registration, enrollment, and supplementary service sign-up (e.g. for after-school, extracurricular, or other school-related activities). UChicago Charter will not sell or rent this information to anyone. 

UChicago Charter will use the information you provide in order to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us or to provide access to information we may wish to provide to our parents, students, families, and partners. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request (e.g. viewing of select information, or receiving the school or campus newsletters) or as required by law.

From time to time, unless you ask us not to, you may be contacted by UChicago Charter via email to inform you of ongoing school activities, specific activities that may or may not relate to you, as well as changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt out of receiving any future communication from us not required by law by sending an email to: privacy@uchicagocharter. org. You may also request any of the following by emailing the same address:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you that we are not required by law to store for the services we provide.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

my.UChicagoCharter & Parent Access Registration

Our site includes two components for which parents are automatically enrolled. Parents who do not wish to access these services can opt-out by notifying us via email at These two components are:

  • my.UChicagoCharter - Gives customizable access to various areas of our school website, including calendars, school news, and third party sites and services.
  • Parent Access - Provides access to student grades, attendance, and scheduling information for parents and legal guardians.

Where consent for the use and disclosure of personal information is required, the school will seek consent from the appropriate person. In the case of a student’s personal information, the school will seek the consent from the student and/or parent or legal guardian depending on the circumstances and the student’s ability and maturity to understand the consequences of the proposed use and disclosure.

All University of Chicago Charter School students and families are issued a student media release form upon enrollment. This release form indicates consent that students may be observed, taped (audio and/or video), photographed, interviewed, and/or included in focus groups as part of the program and professional development activities provided by the University of Chicago Charter School and its parent organization, the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute (UEI). UEI owns any and all rights to these recordings. These recordings may be edited and used in informational or promotional video, television, print, or Internet applications related to UEI activities, including use by third parties, with UEI’s permission.

Other Services Registration

In order to use other services available on this website, a user must first complete the registration process. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the activities and programs in which you have expressed interest. You may also opt to provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself—providing this information is not required.
