Every year since 2001, NKO students have outperformed Chicago Public Schools students citywide.

Parent Group (FTCO)

North Kenwood/Oakland has an active Family-Teacher-Community Organization (FTCO).

  • The FTCO raises funds to support innovative classroom projects designed by teachers, recruits parents to serve as classroom volunteers and sponsors health and wellness activities for parents and students.
  • The FTCO chairperson serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Charter School.

North Kenwood/Oakland houses a new Parent Center. The Center offers book clubs and workshops on topics of interest and needs identified by parents.

Community Action Councils (CACs)
