By state law, families who apply to the University of Chicago Charter School on behalf of their children must reside within Chicago city limits. UChicago Charter uses no selection criteria. Students are admitted by lottery.
All campuses of the University of Chicago Charter School have attendance boundaries assigned to them by the Chicago Public Schools.
Applicants to these campuses who are residents of the relevant attendance zone are given admissions priority. Additionally, admissions priority is given to applicants who are siblings of currently enrolled students.
UChicago Charter generally makes applications available in early October with a final due date in late February to early March, followed by a public lottery held in late March. Families may apply to more than one campus. Applications are good for one year only—any applicants who are not admitted in one year must reapply the next year.
OCTOBER 2, 2017: Application Opens
FEBRUARY 28, 2018: Applications Due (paper applications must be postmarked by this date)
MARCH 15, 2018: Public Lottery at 2:00PM at Woodlawn Campus, 6300 S. University Ave.
