Student Life

The University of Chicago Charter School empowers students to lead themselves in developing their full potential in academics, arts, sports, and other domains. Each campus provides ample opportunities for students to pursue their creative interests beyond traditional subject matter in and outside the classroom. Highlighted here are a sample of the programs and activities happening across our campuses—fueled by students' passions and often led by students' leadership and committment to excel in new areas.

College-Graduation Culture

The University of Chicago Charter School's mission is to prepare 100% of students for college acceptance and graduation through a PreK to 12 pathway that cultivates critical thinkers and leaders. In our commitment to preparing our students for success in four-year colleges and universities, we've developed a range of programs—including college visits across the country, an integrated college-readiness curriculum, and college programming for parents and students— to ensure students and families are aware, prepared, and inspired for education beyond high school graduation.

Academic Enrichment

The University of Chicago Charter School believes students deserve robust opportunities to explore their potential, inside and outside the classroom. Co-curricular activities—including Debate Team at UCW, Oratory at CGW, Media Arts at NKO, and X-Block courses covering videography to journalism and everything in between—encourage students to enrich their academic experience and develop as thinkers, learners, creators, and leaders.

The University of Chicago Charter School believes that committed participation in athletics programming coupled with our rigorous academics can bring out the best in our students. Our student-athletes are high achievers in the game and in the classroom.
