Student Life & Warrior Culture

Warrior Creed

 I am a TORCHBEARER.
I control my future
with STRENGTH and INTEGRITY.
I will operate within the accepted
academic and social norms of UCW.
I will be THOUGHTFUL when making any decision.
I will understand and RESPECT the viewpoints of others,
Even though they may not be the same as mine.
I will always separate opinion from fact,
and appreciate the VALUE of both.
I will IMAGINE and EXPLORE
the endless possibilities of my future.
I understand that there are
many paths to my destiny, and
I will use my IMAGINATION
and take different approaches to reach it.
I will be PERSISTENT in completing any task that comes before me.
For I am a SCHOLAR, who is COLLEGE BOUND,
and I am a LEADER,
committed to making the world
a better place for all.

Student Government Association

"The purpose of the Student Government Association, authorized by the University Of Chicago Administration, shall be to represent the rights and opinions of the student body in a manner consistent with the mission of UCW, to provide for appropriate student activities, and to join with the faculty and administrators of UCW in building a stronger, more effective educational community." (The SGA Constitution)

UCW Values

Fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel welcome, valued, and respected, regardless of their background, abilities, or differences.
Restorative justice emphasizes the importance of building a strong and supportive school community. This involves creating a positive and inclusive environment where students, teachers, and staff feel connected and valued.
When conflicts arise, our restorative justice approach at UCW aims to resolve them through open communication and dialogue. Instead of punishment, individuals involved in the conflict come together to discuss the impact of their actions and work toward finding mutually agreeable solutions.
Restorative circles are a common practice in restorative justice. These circles bring together individuals affected by a particular issue to share their perspectives, express feelings, and collaboratively develop solutions. The process encourages active listening for our students and develops their sense of empathy.
Prioritizing the physical and emotional safety of students, creating a secure environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
Recognizing and celebrating the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives within the school community to promote understanding and tolerance.
At UCW we offer dozens of after school programming. We encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, and events to foster a sense of belonging and personal development.
